Dark Days - Bourjois Mascara

Bourjois DARK khol Mascara

#RANTorRAVE - RANT!

I LOVE Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara. I have been using it for about two years and it's probably my all time favourite. I love the formula, I love the brush, I love the effect it has on my lashes. I LOVE IT.
BUT I am a sucker for getting *bored* and I decided I was in the market for a new mascara. I had forgotten what a stressful situation this could be.
I looked around a few make up counters, and one of the Elizabeth Arden ones looked to have a lovely bushy chunky brush (my favourite) but they had none left!

After a while of deliberation, I decided to go with another Bourjois, seeing as they have been the long time winner. I saw this and the picture of the brush was fairly similar to the one I have. It said it was 'super black' which I liked and it was £2.00 less than my usual. It seemed to tick all the boxes. There was no tester out though, so I had to go by the picture and just roll with it.

URGH WHY DID I DO THAT?!

I honestly have NEVER been so disappointed. As soon as I opened it I could see the brush was totally different to the picture, it's plastic and not the 'bristly' kind. You can see in the picture, but I would compare the brush to the 'They're Real' by Benefit Mascara (but nothing like it to use). It kinda HURT to apply, I thought I may of been doing it wrong (not sure how you can go that wrong with mascara but...) so I looked online to watch how others applied. I tried it their way which was similar to mine, you just also use the top/flat part of the brush to go in as well. It just was uncomfortable and you can't really apply more than one coat. It clumps. It doesn't separate in any way shape or form and it doesn't add any volume. I can see how it would be lengthening, but you look like you have less eye lashes to be lengthened!
To add to my sadness I cannot return it. So I just have it with my make up collection as a sad reminder of the time I didn't just stick to what I know! I MAY go back and see if the Elizabeth Arden one is now in stock as it looked lovely, (obviously more pricey).
So I am pretty annoyed about this, I have always loved Bourjois but this brush is just NAH for me. It could just be me! Let me know if you have this or have used it and feel differently!

I would love to hear from you guys on Twitter @4theblonde or like me on Facebook.

This purchase was from Superdrug and retailed at £7.99
